Deleting a few unused apps the may be hidden away in folders on your device can be a good way to regain some space.Īnother key focus with iMyfone Umate Pro is privacy and ensuring data is completely removed before a device is provided to a new owner. Granted, you can do all of this on your iPhone itself but the process is a little quicker through iMyfone Umate Pro. This is simply a viewer for the apps on your device which shows you their relative size and allows you to easily delete them. The last section is probably the least exciting - Apps. Again, the option to back up the files to your computer is there before you delete the videos from your device. I deleted a few that I had actually forgotten existed and reclaimed almost a gigabyte. For me, this was mostly videos from my camera roll that could have saved me hundreds of megabytes at a time. The Large files tab in Umate Pro flags up, as you may expect, the largest files on your device. You can also use the Umate Pro app to view and bulk delete photos from your device - freeing up a lot of space, especially if you have a large photo library. A photographer with a keen eye may be able to spot the compression but the images were still perfectly suitable for sharing on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook. Most images were reduced in size by 40-65% which could make a huge difference if applied to my whole library.Īs for quality, there was minimal noticeable degradation. I tested the compression on a batch of images and did find considerable space was saved. Now, like many of you, I was wary of trusting a third party with my photo library - especially when compression is involved - but Umate Pro gives you the opportunity to back up your photos to your computer before proceeding (I also opted to back up to iCloud and iTunes before going ahead with my testing, just to be sure). iMyfone claims that you can save up to 75% of space used by your photos with its lossless compression. I was hesitant to delete this data as the app does not allow you to see exactly what is this is comprised of - I wondered if music I had saved offline in Apple Music or podcast files in Overcast may be adding to the amount, but these were unchanged when the deletion process had finished.Ī larger space saving technique in iMyfone Umate Pro is in its Photos tab and compression technology. Your results may vary, but my device has over 3GB of temporary files. While this may not clear out a huge amount of space, it’s some space that would otherwise be unusable. Items like crash logs, photo caches, cookies, temporary files and failed downloads, and other junk created by third-party apps can found and deleted with a single click in the app. One aim of iMyfone’s Umate Pro is to clear this data from your iPhone and reclaim valuable storage space - all it needs to do is scan your device. Like any operating system, junk data, app caches and temporary files build up over time on iOS and is not always efficiently cleared. IMyfone Umate Pro is a tool for Windows and Mac that enables iPhone and iPad users to free up space on their devices and securely delete its contents before selling on a device ahead of an upgrade. We keep so much on our phones that we can begin to fill them - particularly those with smaller storage capacities - and it can become a chore trying to manually manage the contents of our devices. We use our iPhones every minute of every day - apps, games, photos, messages, social networks and more are all found in our pockets. This is tricky, as patches are generally not compatible with each other. What to do if I want to use multiple patches? Often there are links in the first post of the topic. If there is one available, you can usually find it in the topic devoted to the patch in the development forum. There's no guarantee that there is one available for the patch you're interested in. Where do I get these precompiled binaries? Putting a patch file in some directory on your computer will not work. The easy way is hoping that someone else has done this compiling before, so that you can download a precompiled binary, similar to downloading the official version from the OpenTTD website.Īssuming you're a regular player, you may want to go for the last option. This involves setting up a compile environment on your computer, which can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on your computer skill level. The hard way is to get the source code, apply the patch and compile the game yourself. If you want to use a patch, there's two ways to do that. So to summarize: if you want to play the game with a patch, you need to get the source code, then apply the patch to the source code and finally compile the modified source code into a program. One can also compile modified, or patched source code, which puts the modifications of the patch into the program, such that they can be used. One can compile the original source code, which gives the game as you can download it from the OpenTTD website. For this, the source code first needs to be made into a program, which is called compiling. The source code itself is not yet a program (or game if you will) that can be used on a computer by you and me. Players who modify the source code themselves often publish these changes in the form of a patch, hoping that the developers will pick it up and add it to the main source code of the game. This source code is written by the OpenTTD developers, but anyone is free to take this source code and modify it. The game OpenTTD you play is made from source code. There's no easy way to 'install' patches, certainly not as easy as installing a NewGRF. You can recognize them by the file extension: either. Patches are text files that describe changes to a certain version of the source code of OpenTTD. 5 What if none of the above is available?.4 What to do if I want to use multiple patches?.3 Where do I get these precompiled binaries?.There’s also an open source simulator called SimuTrans - I haven’t tried this at first glance, like many open source programs, it looks complicated and seems to have little documentation. I’ll be interested to see how the Cities In Motion sequel, due out this year, goes… it looks like it will fix some of these problems. And I’m wondering if we’ll ever see a public transport planning simulator (rather than just a “PT vehicles rolling around a city” simulator) that is realistic. The bottom line is that it’s fun to play with, but - as with all the others I’ve looked at - not very realistic. (The review on the Human Transit Blog makes a lot of good points as well.) Some of the underlying principles are unclear: for instance, as your network of routes builds up, does patronage grow as a result of good/useful connections, as in real life? There’s no control over things like bus and tram lanes and traffic light priority - this is a killer, as it’s the obvious solution to your vehicles getting stuck in traffic, without building enormously expensive railway lines instead.Playing the tutorial, one semi-remote area which only had a few houses seemed to generate a huge number of passengers for the bus stop. It seems hard to forecast demand from a particular stop.So basically a fundamental of real transit planning (scheduling) is almost completely missing. Worse, they get added just after the first stop, so if that’s the busiest, it takes ages for the new vehicles to make their way back there. They always get added at the start of the route, which means you can’t easily space them out to even the loads or quickly address crowding at a particular stop. Adding more vehicles to a route is very restrictive.Perhaps fair enough for buses, but in real life, many trams worldwide are double-ended, thus can reverse. Trams and buses seem to only be able to terminate in a loop. The game is fun, but in some ways is really not much better than the older Traffic Giant… though it looks nicer, seems to have more underlying complexity, and has more scenarios.įrom what I’ve seen, my main beefs would be: I finally got around to playing a bit of Cities In Motion. The result could be the unexpected termination of the Java process. If the Java Virtual Machine does not take configured cgroup limits into account, it might risk trying to consume more resources than the operating system is willing to provide to it. When Java processes are deployed in such an environment, cgroup limits might be set for the deployed process. The Linux kernel ensures that when resource limits are in place via the cgroup, no process goes beyond those limits (at least not for extended periods of time). Container engine options, in turn, set resource limits via the Linux cgroup pseudo-filesystem. Those limits translate into options that are passed to the container engine when containers are deployed. Kubernetes and many other popular cloud orchestration systems let deployments limit container resources via CPU and memory quotas. OpenJDK container awareness has been available in Java 17 and Java 11 since their respective general availability (GA) releases, and in Java 8u starting with update 8u202. These resource limits affect, for example, the garbage collection (GC) algorithm selected by the JVM, the default size of the heap, the sizes of thread pools, and how default parallelism is determined for ForkJoinPool. OpenJDK detects whether certain resource quotas are in place when running in a container and, if so, uses those bounds for its operation. As of this writing, Java 17 and 11.0.16+ are the only long-term support releases that support both cgroups v1 and cgroups v2 configurations. OpenJDK's container awareness detection uses Linux's control group (cgroup) filesystem to detect enforced resource quotas. In this article, you'll learn why container awareness is useful, what has changed recently in that area of OpenJDK, and what diagnostic options are available to help developers gain insight into how the JVM determines settings. By container awareness, we mean that OpenJDK detects when it is running inside a container. If more information is required, I'll be glad to provide it.OpenJDK has been aware of Linux containers (such as Docker and Podman, as well as container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes) for some time. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I would be very grateful. My xlog folder downsized to 50 files (800 mb), not anywhere near the 200 mb limit I set in the config. I then forced checkpoints through SQL, vacuumed the database, restarted the windows service and tried pg_archivecleanup, nothing really worked. I can see the properties have been set correctly when I query pg_settings. To reduce the size of the folder, I tried setting wal_keep_segments to 0 or 1, setting the max_wal_size to 200mb, reducing the checkpoint_timeout, setting archive_mode off and archive_command to an empty string. After the script is done, the database structure is fine, the data is there but the xlog folder already contains 55 files (880 mb). It executes initdb, registers a windows service, starts it, creates an empty database and restores a dump into the database. I wrote an setup script for my Postgresql 9.6 service instance. I've read a lot of threads about this issue or similar ones but nothing I've tried helped. I'm trying to configure a PostgreSQL 9.6 database to limit the size of the pg_xlog folder. Mushroom Wars 2 is a fantastic real-time tower defense game, with fun and accessible gameplay. You can even get access to mushroom-heroes to join your army. The greater the challenge, the better the rewards that you receive will be when you are victorious. Besides, you’ll be able to play in each setting with a choice of three different levels of difficulty. Mushroom Wars 2’s campaign mode is made up of many different chapters, each of which has more than 50 levels. As the level of the fungi increase, they will generate new warriors more quickly. On top of that, once you’re in control of the fungus, you’ll be able to level up just by double-tapping it. You just need to send your warriors and defeat the adversaries that are controlling the fungi if you want to take over. The player that gets control of all of the fungi on the map at the same time, wins the game.Įvery level is made up of a certain amount of fungi, which will create little mushroom-warriors as the clock ticks. That’s all for Mushroom Wars 2.Mushroom Wars 2 is an RTS where you’ll have to send your mushroom-warriors to conquer all of the fungi on the map. You should play the game like a watchful hawk, striking fear into your opponents and waiting for the best time to attack. That’s another great opportunity for you to attack! Remember – the more aggressive you are about taking opportunities, the better you’ll be at the game. Did the enemy just try to take over a neutral tower? They probably have very few units left after having to deal with getting shot AND taking out the neutral defenses. Did the enemy just upgrade one of their lower end bases? That means that the base has little to no defense, and it’s a prime target for you. Keep a close eye on the bases your enemy has and try to time your actions around them. At the same time, do not wait too long to attack, otherwise your enemy will have a stockpile of units to fall back on and it’s going to be a tough uphill battle.Ĥ. The second you do so the enemy will immediately move for your tower since it’s wide open. Using that same example, sending all of your units stationed at one of the towers to attack one of the enemy’s bases is probably a bad idea. In this instance the enemy AI will NOT attempt to make any sort of move, and will instead wait for you to make the first move. For example, say you have two defensive towers that are heavily guarded controlled on the map, and the enemy has none. These moments are usually good times to strike, but make sure you’re strategic about it. In the event of a checkmate, the AI will not take any actions and instead opt to build up mushroom men in whatever bases they have. Going off of tip #2, the enemy AI will actually wait for you to make a move sometimes. Upgraded defensive towers can really take a big chunk out of advancing armies! Be sure you pick a good place for them too. Defensive towers function just like regular bases you will need to station an ample amount of mushroom men to prevent them from being taken over. The computer AI has a tendency to react to every single move you make, and they will jump at the chance to take over these towers if you leave them unguarded for too long. Try to have at least one of these around, and make sure it’s heavily fortified. You will learn how to construct defensive towers out of bases a couple levels into the tutorial. Your enemy will be severely crippled if they cannot capture bases to produce more mushroom men. One of the key things to remember is to prevent your enemy from expanding. Send your mushroom men to attack neutral buildings closest to the enemy base. In a lot of cases the outcome of a level may ride on the first couple of seconds! Playing too reserved may eventually drive you to defeat. It’s usually a good idea to take the offensive than to play it safe. Read on to find out our best strategies in our Mushroom Wars 2 strategy guide. Mushroom Wars 2 is deceptively simple and easy to pick up, but there’s a lot of strategy involved if you want to win. We’ll help you be the ultimate mushroom tactician with our Mushroom Wars 2 cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide! Take control of the battlefield by employing different tactics, build new types of towers, and take over the enemy! You can even play the game in versus mode against other players. The hit strategy game Mushroom Wars returns with Mushroom Wars 2! In this tactical strategy game filled with fun-guys, you’ll be attacking other mushroom men to claim bases for your army. |
